Mrs. D. Buchanan, Lansdowne, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Taupo. At the Grand Hotel are:—Mrs. J. R. Burle.y (.England) and Mrs. L. Dwan (Wellington). Mrs. H. J. Baker, of Hamilton, is on a visit to Mrs. J. C. Beale, Balmoral Road, Epsom. Mrs. R. A. Wright returned to Wellington at the end of last week from a visit to Auckland Mrs. Arnold Tait and her family, of Burwood Crescent, llemuera, have left to spend some weeks at Christchurch. Mrs. Bickerton Fisher, of Mangere, accompanied by her family, will leave to-morrow to spend the holidays at W aiheke. Miss E. L. Dowling, of New Plymouth, is spending a short holiday with her parents in Wanganui before leaving for Vienna. Mrs. Harold Flett, of Sydney, will arrive in Auckland by tho Orford on December 23 to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Lorigan. Miss Eleanor Murray and Miss Patricia Foster, of Christchurch, are staying at Cheltenham for tho Christmas and New Year holidays. Mrs. J. Holland, wife of the vicardesignate of the parish of Featherston. arrived in Wellington from England last week, accompanied by her husband. Miss Audrey Woodroffe, of Empire Road, Devonport, left last night to spend a holiday with her aunt, Mrs. E. T. Wilder, of Springbush, Otane, Hastings. Mrs. Norman Williams and her daughter, Mrs. J. Purdie, Arney Road, Remucra, left by motor-car on Saturday morning to spend a month in Hawke's Bay. At the Station Hotel are:—Mrs. Edwin Wray (Wellington), Mrs. R. Hogg (Palmerston North), Miss L. Davidson (Brisbane, Queensland), Miss M. F. Hopkins (England) and Miss J. A. Wallis (Gisborne). Miss Cecil Hull, who has been staying with Dr. Hilda Northcroft since her return from England, will leave Auckland shortly to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays with Mrs. G. F. Linnell, Te lhu, Kaiwaka. The first birthday party of the junior branch of the New Lynn Plunket Society was held recently. Items wero given by Jean and Doris McKenzio. Gwynne Powell, Wanda McKenzie, Bernice Baker and Bruce Wilson. The accompanist was Mrs. McKenzie. A birthday cake donated by a member of tho committee was a feature of tho occasion. Visiting the Hermitage at the present time are Mrs. Graham Spiers, of Scotland, her sister. Miss JohnstonStewart, her niece, Miss Violet Johnston-Stewart and Miss Winifred Dewar. Previous to their visit to the Hermitage they were the guests of a relative. Mr. A. F. B. Broadhurst, of Cambridge. They intend making a two months' tour of the South Island.
