MISSION BAY CARNIVAL A spirit of carnival will reign at this popula* retort, where there will ha a miniature Coney Island during the holidays, featuring a merry* go-round for children, an electrical speedway which hat recently proved extremely popular with the Australian public, together with a number of other highly-amusing specialty shows. STRATFORD RACING CLUB A great favourite summer sporting event is the annual meeting at Te Kapua Park. It is a two-day meeting on January 1 and 3. Special transport arrangements by the Railway Department. TAMAKI DRIVE One of the best trips from the city is along Tamaki Drive, Auckland's magnificent waterfront road, which leads to the popular beaches of Mission Bay, Kohimarama and St. Heliers. A regular but service starts from the central bus depot behind the C.P.O. SPECIAL RAILWAY ARRANGEMENTS Excursion trains, together with specially reduced fares, have been provided by the Railway Department to suit the convenience of holiday-makers. Excursions to Mt. Maunganui, Tauranga and Te Aroha and from Whangarei to Opua are an added attraction. ATTRACTIVE BROWN'S BAY With a regular bus service, and a fine, safe beach for bathing, Brown's Bay has become one of the most popular of the East Coast bays. It is well. sheltered and ideal for holiday-makers. TAKAPUNA AND MILFORD BEACHES Leading North Shore bathing resorts. Excellent and frequent bus and ferry services throughout the day and evening. Visitors have choice of Devonport or Bayawater ferry* thence by bus. MILFORD SWIMMING POOL The largest swimming pool in New Zealand, with every possible facility for the enjoyment of bathers. Take ferry to Devonport and thence by bus. The Pirate Shippe, Milford's popular cabaret and tearooms, has accommodation for bathers close by. Special lighting equipment installed for night bathing. MORRINiIVILLE SPORTS MEETING The annual meeting of the Morrinsville Sports Club will be held on January 3. The principal feature of the meeting, for which there is £225' in prizes, will be cycle races on the specially-banked municipal track. Some of the best Australian and New Zealand professional cyclists will be competing, and other attractions will be amateur wrestling, hakas and poi dances, and buck-jumping. RACING AT NEW PLYMOUTH The Taranaki Jockey Club will conduct their popular Christmas race carnival on Monday and Tuesday, December 27 and 28. The Railway Department announce special train arrangements, v TITIRANGI AND HELENSVILLE The bush-clad hills of the Waitakere Ranges and the waters of the Manukau Harbour are among the tights to be seen on a trip by but from the city to Titirangi. Further north it the popular hot tprlngt resort, Helensville, which can be reached easily by bus. AUCKLAND RACING CLUB Four-day summer meeting at glorious Elleralie, December 27 and 29, January 1 and 3. Firtt race at 1 1.45 a.m. each day. One of the most popular sporting and tocial eventt of the Chrittmat holiday season. "OVER SHE GOES" AT HIS MAJESTY'S Messri. J. C. Williamton have arranged for the presentation of this highly-successful musical comedy, starring the ever-popular comedian George Gee, The premiere will be staged to-night. TRANSPORT FOR RACE MEETINGS To meet the requiremente of the racing public, the Railway Department hat organised special trains to serve the meetings at Elleralie, Stratford, New Plymouth. Another train will coincide with the trotting meeting at Auckland. TROTTING AT ALEXANDRA PARK No racing enthusiatt thould fail to make arrangement to attend thlt immentely attractive meeting where Auttralia't molt brilliant trottert will be matched againtt New Zealand't finest. The meeting will open on Tuesday, December 28, and continue over Thursday and Friday. THE NEW SKITTLE ALLEY During the year Recreations, Limited, have successfully introduced Skittles to Auckland* Undoubtedly one of the moat progressively popular games of tecent yeart, it will provide visitor! to Auckland with many hourt of enjoyment during the holiday season. THE TAURANGA REGATTA Always conducted with the greatest enterprise and enthusiasm, the Tauranga Regatta Committee hat again organised the finest aquatic carnival in New Zealand. This year's event on Boxing Day will certainly feature all those displays which have given the event such wide public support in the past. TRANSPORT TO THE RANGES AND WEST COAST The Passenger Transport but services have provided an augmented service to Waikowhai Park, Blockhouse Bay and Piha during the holiday season. Of special interest to all Aucklanders it the information that, on the arrival of the British flying boat and the American Clipper, buses will transport sightseers from the bus terminal to the mooring site during the stay of the flying boats in Auckland. WHANGAROA EN FETE In addition to the ocean race from Auckland, Whangaroa retidentt have organised a variety of interests for vititort to this delightful spot. A kappa Maori dinner will bo one of tho highlights of the occasion.
