RUGBY LEAGUE TEST VICTORY FOR AUSTRALIA MARGIN OF TEN POINTS (Received December 19, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 18 Victory in the third and final Rugby League test went to Australia by 13 points to 3. However, England had j previously won the "ashes" with successes in the first and second matches. The game to-day was played in dull [ weather. MORRINSVILLE SPORTS NEW YEAR MEETING OUTSTANDING COMPETITORS Professional cyclists and athletes from all over New Zealand and from Australia will compete at the second annual professional meeting, to be held by the Morrinsville Sports Club at tho Morrinsville speedway on Monday, January 3. Included in the programme, which provides for a continuous series of events throughout the day, will be midget car trials, in which J. Mathieson, of Auckland, will be matched with one of the team of American drivers which will arrive in Auckland on Christmas Evo. The two miles professional cycling championship of New Zealand is another event which is expected to arouse interest. The Australian, Jack Fitzgerald, holder of the world's quarter-mile record of 23s from a flying start and 28s from a standing start, will be the outstanding competitor, and he will be matched with New Zealand's best professional riders. Fitzgerald has not been defeated in match races in Australia this year A five miles scratch teams race between Fitzgerald and "Speed" Morgan and J. Middleton, also of Australia, and the best three riders at the meeting from each of the North and South Islands, a 30 laps scratch race, time trials and junior events are included on the cyclists' programme. The New Zealand 440 yds and professional champion, J. Flannagan, of Ciiristcburch, will take part in tho athletic events, opposed by runners from a wide area. A number of wrestling bouts and numerous novelty events have also been arranged. CROQUET .
