MAIL FOR LONDON
TWO RECENT DESPATCHES PROBABLY IN AIR 7 CRASH ' .Although no official advice has b&a received by the Post and Telegraph Department that air mail from - New Zealand was carried by the Empire flying-boat Cygnus, which crashed in the harbour at Brindisi on Sunday, it is believed v that two consignments have been delayed. Cabled messages stated that Australian maii weighing more than a ton was salvaged by Italian Post Office officials for drying and forwarding to London. Grounds for the belief that New. Zealand mail was included in the fly-ing-boat's cargo are that Dominion letters were due at London on December 6, the scheduled arrival date of • the_ Cygnus. No cabled, advice of their arrival at "London has yet been received in Auckland. The two consignments were those leaving Auckland by • the Aorangi on November 16 and the Awatea on November 20.
