CURIOUS MARRIAGE CUSTOMS
The following are some of the curious customs which prevail in different parts of the world in regard to matrimony. Kaffirs sacrifice oxen when a marriage is celebrated. The Tartars of Turkestan give the weight of the prospective wife in butter or dates. In Uganda it is tho custom to offer six needles and a quantity of indiarubbor for a brido. In Kamskatcha the prico varies from one reindeer to as much as fifteen of these useful animals, according to tho attractiveness of the chosen one, who is required to work very hard among tho reindeer herds, and to obey loyally every command of her husband.
