CLOUDY TO OVERCAST IMPROVING GRADUALLY The weather report and forecast for New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, were as follows:—An anti-cyclone of slight intensity covers tho central and southern portions of the Tasman Sea and extends on to the South Island. Pressure distribution is, however, rather uniform. Tho forecast is for light to moderate and variable winds, with southerlies or south-easterlies predominating. Seas slight to moderate. Eastern Tas-< man Sea: Light to moderate and variable winds, with south-east to east predominating; seas slight to moderate. Tho weather is likely to be cloudy to overcast and in places misty or foggy, with scattered showers or drizzling rain more especially in eastern district's; improving gradually to-morrow. Temperatures cool. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST MAINLY FAIR TO CLOUDY The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Aiickland Province: —Winds turning to southerlies or south-easterlies, force light to moderate. The weather is likely to be mainly fair to cloudy and cooler, but some isolated showers probable. Seas slight to moderate. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—Fine, sunny weather with a moderate south-west wind- prevailed during the day. The maximum temperature was 80 degrees and the minimum 61 degrees.
