THE MINING MARKET GENERAL FIRMER TONE METAL ISSUES STRENGTHEN Dealing covered a wider range in the mining market on tlie Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, when a firmer tone was general. Metals were stronger. Mount Lyells. Mount Morgans and North Broken Hills all gaining ground. Golden Crowns were lifted 9d on sale. Waihi Investments sold ex dividend for the first time. CHRISTMAS STOCK SALES In accordance with a. scheme introduced with soma success last year, the Christmas fat stock sales at WestfieJd are again to be held on an earlier date, Montfay, December 20, while the dairy cattle "sale will be held the next day. The reason for the alteration from the usual day of the sale, Wednesday, is to make' i.t. possible for butchers to meet abattoir arrangements and have meat available for selling in the shops for the Christmas trade. The first sale in the new year will be held on Wednesday, January 5.
