CHARGE OF ASSAULT
LABOURER CONVICTED [from OUR y O\VK correspondent] HAMILTON, "Wednesday Charged wjtjj assaulting a small hov' on the FranWon railway station on November 29, .Gerald Murphy Boiirke, aged 30. farm labourer, was .convicted by Mr. S.- L. Paterson, S.M.. in- tho' Police Court and was placed on probation fbj> two years and ordered to take but a prohibition order. A porter at the Frankton station, Clarence Albert Whiting, said that ghorly after u p.m. on November 29 be was told by two girls that a man was hurting a #mall boy on the station. Witness went outside and found accused with the boy jammed against the wall. He pulled accused away and took the boy inside the station before ringing the Franftton police. Accused was slightly intoxicated at the time. Sergeant H. Fryer, of Frankton, said that accused bad made a statement that drink was the cause of the trouble. He was an emigrant from Ireland and bad been in the country about four months.
