BUYING FOR CASH
HABIT IN SOUTH AFRICA GROWTH SINCE DEPRESSION [from our own correspondent] CAPETOWN. Oct. 27 South Africans are acquiring the cash habit and to-day, in proportion to the population, considerably more goods are paid for over the counter than was the ca.se five or 10 years ago. The growth of cash bazaars has been one factor in the encouragement oi: cash dealings. It usually happens that in times of depression people buy for cash as far as possible to take advantage of the cheapest market, and in time of prosperity they go back to credit business. , During the present period of prosperity, however, peoplo have continued the cash habit.
