FAR EAST RELIEF FUND
LOCAL BODY CONTRIBUTIONS VALIDATING LEGISLATION Following upon the appeal made last Monday by the Minister of Health, the Hon. P. Fraser, lor assistance for the Far East Belief Fund, tho Department of Internal Affairs has issued a circular to local bodies stating that all contributions made by them will be validated during the present session of Parliament. The fund is being raised at tho request of the International lied Cross Headquarters in Geneva, and is being sponsored in New Zealand by the joint council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Rod Cross Society. A similar fund in Great Britain has received the moral and financial support of the British Government. When appealing for contributions the Minister announced that the Government had decided to give £IOOO, bringing the amount then collected in the Dominion to £4OOO. The sum aimed at is £IO,OOO, With a view to furthering the collection in Auckland the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, has convened a meeting at the Town Hall at noon to-morrow. All citizens are invited to attend.
