The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Eden, said he was awaiting a report from the British Ambassador at Bio de Janeiro who had been instructed to urge a reconsideration of the position, particularly in view of the deplorable effect such unilateral action had created in London. Notice was given to ask the President oi' the Board of Trade it' lie will prepare a scheme for Anglo-Bra/ilinn clearing. The object is that if the proposals bv the Brazilian Government in' respect of debt default are not of snob a kind as British negotiators can recommend for acceptance, AngloBrazilian clearing may be ready for the protection of £262.000,000 ol British capital in Brazil listed on the London Stock Exchange.
