TENNIS SURPRISE
LADY CHAMPION DEFEATED Miss Thelma Coyne's win over the Australian lady champion, Miss Nancy Wynne, in the New South Wales championship was her second successive victory against the 'Australian title-holder and her fourth win in their nine meetings. Her latest victory was a triumph of tactics, as Miss Coyne realised tho champion revelled-in speedy play but disliked tho slow, deep-length returns that require more patience during tho rallies. Miss "Wynne made many glaring mistakes when trying to force the pace off such strokes, instead of waiting for a more favourable opportunity to employ her winning strokes, and this proved the deciding factor in her downfall.
