The flans were out 40ft. The going was soft early, lwt it improved throughout the
morning. Impressive gallops over a mile were recorded by The Buzzer, Quadroon and Corroborce, while Wildflowcr and Lady lna ran smart six furlongs. Great Hope, Dawning Light, Aria, Rarotonga and Florence Mills pleased over shorter journeys.
Tidewaiter (Chaplin) just shaded , Silver River (Tattersall) over six furlongs in 1.19. They went fast down the back to reach the three furlongs in 30 1-5, Stargono (Tattersall) took J. 22 1-5 for six furlongs, running the first three in 41s. Noisy Night (Anderson) covered his first three furlongs in 40s, but he was eased in the straight, the five furlongs taking l.f} 1-5. The Buzzer (Broughton) went slowly away from the mile, taking 15s for the first furlong, but he ran the next two in 25 2-ss, where lie was picked up by Royal Chance (Howe). The Buzzer's first five furlongs occupied 1.7 1-5, and ho finished too stroilgly for his companion, to record 1.48 for a mile. He looks a fitter horse than before the Levin meeting and lie is expected again to be favourite on Saturday. Rarotonga (Tattersall), alter taking 27s for his first quarter, ran away 'from Alby (Chaplin) in the straight to run half a mile in 51s. It was a good gallop for a two-year-old. Great Hope and Laughing Lass Great Hope (Broughton) was carried along from the five furlongs by Laughing Lass (Howe) to run their first threo in 38 3-ss, The marc dropped out at the distance and Great Hope finished resolutely to run bis task in 1.5. Surmount (Tattersall) ran three furlongs in 395. He lightened up on his southern trip, but is building up again and it is probable he will be taken to Ellerslie for the Foal Stakes. Oratory (Broughton) came in from the halt-mile under a good hold in 555. Gay Boy (Anderson) finished well to run half a mile in 535. His race at has improved him appreciably. Final (Chaplin) ran five furlongs easily in 1.6, the last half-mile in 53s Beaulack (Howe) covered seven furlongs in 1.37 3-5. going comfortably all the way. Round Score (Anderson) showed that he was improved by his hurdles racing by running a mile in 1.18 2-5, his first i live furlongs in 1.7 2-5. He seemed to be back to his best. Dunmanuay (Broughton) finished too well for Segra (Tattersall) over half a mile in 535. j Aurora's Love (Anderson) pleased by i running five furlongs in 1.7 1-5, the i last half-mile in 51 1.55. j Aria (Broughton) ga've Old Surrey j (Ireland) a short start and beat him I home by half a length in 51 3-ss. Aria I stuck on well and should be in demand j at Feilding. Chat (Johnston) was under a good j hold to run five furlongs in 1.9 1-5. j Wagner (Chisholnt), under a hold, ! occupied 41 2-5s for threo furlongs. | Renascor (Anderson) dashed smartly I over threo furlongs in 39 l-ss. Dawning Light Impressive Taillight, looking none the worse for his hard racing at To Rapa, worked on the sand. Ho may be produced on the second day at Feilding. Dawning Light (Broughton), after being held back to run her first three furlongs in 39 3-ss, finished strongly up the straight to completo five in 1.5 1-9. She is very fit. Orient Dawn (Broughton) pleased by running seven furlongs in 1.33 1-5, the first five in 1.7. He is improved. Quadroon (Johnston) always bad the measure of Corroboroe (Chisholm) over their mile, the former finishing just in front, under a good hold, in 1.48 1-5. They took nearly 15s for the first furlong, but cut out the first three in 41s, and the five in 1.7 1-5. Corroboroe did not seem to favour the easier track, but Quadroon's trial pleased greatly. Wildflowcr (Leach) led Lady lna (Broughton) throughout their six furlongs. run in 1.18, but the latter was finishing on, to get within a neck of the filly and she did not lose any friends for Feilding. They ran their last five furlongs, in 1.4 2-ss. The Crooner (Ireland) ran a leisurely six furlongs in 1.21. He has done well since he raced at Riccarton and is to begin a preparation for the Great Northern Derby. Herangi (Leach) easily held Mon Ace (Broughton) over six furlongs in 1.21, the first three in 10 l-ss. Prediction (Tattersall) came homo from the three furlongs in 39 l-ss. Hunting Queen (Howe) ran six furlongs, the last five in 1.6 3-5. She looks bright and well. Florence Mills (.Johnston) was under a good hold running three furlongs in 39 2-ss. Her Feilding prospects look bright. Muggins, who is to race on the second day at Feilding, did trotting .exercise. Peach King (Tattersall) finished some lengths ahead of Havana Princess (Howe) over five furlongs in I.G, the first three taking 39 1-5 s. Copy Cat (Chaplin) canto homo three furlongs in 40 2-ss. King's Lancer (McDowell) jumped patchily over four hurdles. Conveyor (McDonald) jumped four schooling hurdles carefully.

The going, after much rain, was on the heavy side. A. Cook's team, comprising To Hero and Lady Mouth, who looks in excellent order, were sprinted but were not timed. Recent racing has improved Lady Meath and her prospects look bright. Te Hero worked well. iMaxown, Torch, Clooneen and First Flutter indulged in fast work hut were not timed. Galilee went five furlongs in 1 .'1 3-5, the last three with Lady Diana. Both moved freely. Loombination worked well. « i A.
