M. .Mae kersey), for I'.'ll (5s from Mrs. IJachel Cox, of Tauntarunui (Mr. J. F. Strung), arising out of an accident which occurred on the Main South Road between Te Awamutu and Otorolianga on May IS, as a result, of which plaintill - later had a leg amputated, was continued before Mr. Justice Callan in the. Supreme Court at Hamilton to-day.
Dr. (J. W. Cower, of Hamilton, said he would be surprised if the plaintill' was doing any work within six months. It was more likely to be 12 months before he could take up an occupation. The driver of the ear, Nancy Lillian Cox, gave evidence that she hod had .12 months' driving experience-. When witness saw plaintiff she turned the car toward the bank, or right side ol tli<> road, to go past the back of him. Plaintill'. who was not looking toward the car, suddenly - looked up. turned away from the car and jumped toward the bank side. When he did this he had reached the centre of the road or perhaps gone a little over. When witness saw him do this she turned sharply to the left to avoid him and caught', plaintill' with the back of the car. Witness stopped the vehicle within :i car's length.
The case was adjourned until 10 ii.in. to-morrow.
