DAUGHTER'S ORDEAL

j ACTOR FATHER'S DEATH | STAGE TRADITION OBEYED LONDON. Nov. 8 The stage tradition that the play i must go on was observed in poignant ! circumstances last night, i Sir Johnston Forbes-Robertson, the ! veteran actor, died just before his | daughter Jean was about to take the ! stage in J. B. Priestley's "Time and | the Con ways." Miss Forbes-Robertson was advised of her father's death by telegram in her dressing room. She continued her preparations and carried on, dry-eved, until the end of the play, although, at the final curtain, signs of strain were obvious. The news of Sir Johnston's death was kept from the other members of tho cast until tho performance was over, lest by their sympathy they should break down his daughter's resolve to carry out her part.
