THUNDERSTORM AT SUMMIT [BY TEI.KBRAPH—OWN C'OTt R KST'OX DKNT J NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday A severe thunderstorm was experienced by 1.1 members of the Taranaki Alpine Club on the summit of Mount Kginont yesterday. Just before the storm broke shrill whistling occurred when the climbers held their ice axes in the air due to the contact of the metal with the electrically-charged air. There was no wind at the time. Although the thunder, lightning and bail made the last part, of the climb extremely unpleasant the journey to the summit was continued to allow one member of the party, Mr. T.
