MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS

OPOTIKI £BOOO SCHEME [by tei>egeap,h—OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Wednesday At the adjourned special meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council, held in connection with the proposed town hall and municipal buildings, Mr. M. S. Shalfoon said that the notice of the meeting wn3' informal and that the meetings right through had been informal. The Mayor, Mr. G. S. Moody, disagreed with Mr. Shalfoon, who left the meeting. Mx. Porter, architect, said that the proposed building, comprising town hall, borough offices, Plunket room and rest room, could be erected for £6500. In the ensuing discussion it was stated that furnishings and other costs would bring the total to £BOOO. The council decided to take steps to apply to the Local Body' Loans Board for permission to borrow that amount. In reply to a question, the clerk stated that all notices of the meetings and the meetings themselves in connection with the municipal buildings had been in order.
