MATAWHERO VALUES [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] GISBORXE, Friday The special yarding of. stock at Matawhero was rather smaller than those of recent sales at the Matawhero yards. The market was eiiser for dairy types in the beef section, while late rates in sheet) sections were generally maintained. The top price of the season to date for ewes and lambs, los, was obtained for a line offered by Mr. J. Spratt. In the fat rattle section dairy tvpes showed an eas : ng in values, £5 and £5 2s Gd being the best values for Jersevs. A single quality bullock made £l3 2s Gd, and others which could stand finishing brought £8 17s (id to £lO 10s. (lood framed Jersey heifers brought £5. with others CIS 'Js Gd upward. Late rates for fat sheep were maintained, although they were below those ruling a few | weeks ago. Choice ewes on account of the Onou Station made 34s 4d. with other ewes 31s lo 3 Is. The moderate-sized entry was of 'good quality. Woolly wethers made 31s Gd j and second grade ewes 22s to 2(is lod for woolly and 22s od for shorn. Values in the store sheep section were on a par with recent rates. Kwcs and lambs made 20s Od to 30s Id, and shorn two-tooths made 20s 3d to 21s 3d for wethers. LARGE BEEF ENTRY AT WAIHOU The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports having held its fortnightly Waihou sale, a good entry of sheep coming forward, and selling at late rates. A laiere entry of beef comprised mostly second quality '-ows. which sold under steady competition at slightly reduced rates. A large yarding of killable Jersey and boner cows showed no alteration on recent firm rates. A good entry of yearling Jersey heifers met with a good demand, and most were sold at satisfactory prices. Service and potter bulls were also yarded in larger numbers, and sold at late rates, A full yarding of fat pigs, and a medium entry of stores and weaners, with competition for fats very keen, and priors realised were in advance of late quotations. Store and weaner pigs were keenly sought after, a good sale resulting.
