LIZARDS FROM AUSTRALIA
Sir, —"Queenslander" illustrates his first mistake by quoting a second. There is no tarantula in Australia; and the spider referred to (mistaken for the tarantula by early settlers) is properly called "triantelope" —the biishnian's attempt to pronounce the name of the incorrect classification. So, there being neither iguana nor tarantula in Australia, "Queenslander" is obliged to adopt the names "goanna" and "triantelope.'' H.MoH..
