NAVAL FUNERAL

SEAMAN ON LEANDER HARBOUR'. TRAGEDY VICTIM • & Full naval honours were accorded to Ordinary Seaman Neville Clutha Tasker, one of the three men drowned when a naval cutter from H.M.S. Leander capsized in the harbour, during the Diomede Cup race on September 30, when he was buried iu the W aikumete Cemetery .yesterday. A short service was conducted at the mariners' chapel of the Thing Angel Missions to Seamen bv the port chaplain, the Rev. H. K. Vickery, who also took the service at the graveside. There was a large attendance, including officers and ratings from naval vessels in port, the senior officer being Captain I. G. Glennie, of H.M.S. Achilles, flagship on'the-New Zealand station. A detachment under Lieutenant E. J. Horwood, N.Z.S.C., represented military units. • Many beautiful wreaths were sent.

Ratings lined the entrance to the cemetery, and later followed with their officers to the graveside through a guar! of honour resting on reversed arms. The pall-bearers were from H.M.S. Philomel, and the guard from H.MiS. Achilles. After the service volleys were fired, and a bugler sounded the "General Salute," the "Last Post" and the old British "Reveille.'-
