WAIKATO SUMMER SHOW

GOOD ENTRIES RECEIVED [l'llOJl OUH OWN CO II li K£ 1' O N OKNT] HAMILTON. Thursday Entries for the Waiknto Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show to bo hold at Claudelands on Friday and Saturday, October 29 and 30, were well up to last year's standard when the closing day was reached yesterday, reports the secretary, Mr. W. L. Pnnstead. The chilled beef and fat lamb see- j tions arc particularly strong in en- j tries this year, but numbers have dropped in the Jersey classes. The j quality iu this section is, however,J much higher. In the horse section, draughts entries are disappointing, j and as could be expected with a race meeting on the same day, the harness section also is down on last year. The districts whence entries have been received include Palinerston North, the East Coast and the north of Auckland.

The Highland dancing competitions are expected to be among the most, popular of the public*, events. The sheep dog trials promise to be equally attractive, while horse jumping contests, the gymnastic display, and the Hamilton Kennel Club's annual dog show are only a few of the other items on the programme. Entries from the schools in connection with the Agricultural Club movement have been most satisfactory and are expected to give children a real interest iu the show.
