BEACH RESIDENTIAL LEASES [by tki.k, graph—own correspondent] WAIIII, Thursday ( The question of the extension of leases at the Waihi Beach reserve was raised at .a meeting of the Borough Council by recommendation from the Minfteter of Lands, the Hon. F. Lungstone, that tho present leases should be extended from 10 years to 25 years to give greater security of tenure to holders of residential sections. It was decided to defer giving an answer to the Minister until the council had had time to look into the clauses of the Act. It was decided to recommend the appointment of Messrs, C. F. Butcher and .1. F. Robertson to represent Waihi on the newly-constituted Thames Hospital Board, The council endorsed the action of the Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wullnutt, in making a strong protest against the proposal to combine Waihi and Paeroa. for the purpose of representation on the Thames Valley Electric-Power Board. Mr. J. Thorn, M.P., advised that ho had interviewed the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Somple, on tho matter, but ho was too busy to discuss the question adequately. Mr. Thorn went on to say that unless the Government would agree to amend the Act so thnt an additional seat could he given to the Power Board the problem of representation would bo diflicult to solve harmoniously.
