SCHOOL FIELD DAY
ANNUAL EVENT AT ORINI [from our own* correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday About 80 parents and friends attended the third annual field day held at the Orini School in connection with the Boys' and Girls' Agricultural Clubs movement. The Auckland Education Board's agricultural instructor, Mr. .J. W. ConnelT, attended and highly commended the standard of work and of the animals paraded. Mr. A. Clements, of Rototuna, acted as judge and demonstrated to the pupils the good points of a dairy cow. A unique display of pottery worked by the pupils themselves was a feature of the display of school work held in conjunction with the agricultural competitions, llosults of the latter were: Calves.—Light breed, dairy type (July calves): Ida Udy, 1; Errol Udy, 2; Tom Bates, 3. Best-reared calf: lola Udy, 1; Errol Udy, 2; Tom Bates, 3. Lambs. —Best-Yeared pet lamb: Ralph Dr.vden, 1; Jack Seath, 2. Fat lamb (open class): Rex Houghton, 1; M. Tooman. 2; J. Seath. 3. „ , TT Bantams. —Pair of bantams: lola Udy, 1; M. Tooman, 2. Bantam rooster: Iris Brown, 1. Bantam hen: Yolande Brown, 1; Jack Timmin, 2; Yolande Brown, 3. School Vegetable Gardens. —Standards 5 and (5: Gordon Carswell, 1; Russell Preest, 2; Alex Seath, 3. Srhool vegetable gardens.
