VISITORS ENTERTAINED Lunch with Clark Gable, Robert Montgomery and Spencer Tracy was one of the interesting experiences Mr. E. Davies related of his recent tour in tho United States, to the Travel Club at its weekly meeting yesterday morning in the Milne and Clioyce Reception Hall. Of all the cities he visited he thought Los Angeles the most beautiful because of its wide streets, its extensive towns and its trees. The honorary director, Mrs. Victor Mackay, thanked Mr. Davies for his talk. A collection of some oi" Miss Gwyneth Robinson's paintings was on show. Humorous sketches were given by Mr. Alan McElwain. Among the overseas and out-of-town guests were: —The Misses Shirley and Marjorio James and Mr. F. B. Venn (Melbourne), Miss Jill Leask, Miss E. Brown and Mr, F. Brown (California), Miss C, Hirtzel (Chicago), Mrs. Heim (Czechoslovakia), Mrs. E. Mac Master (New i'ork), Mrs. E. L. MoritzKon (Honolulu), Mrs. H. Hare and Miss Hare (Marton), Mrs. J. Butler (Cambridge), Mrs, Guy (Kaitaia), Mrs. E. Pavitt and Miss E. Pavitt (New Plymouth), Mrs. Petty and Mrs. H. Bolton (Wellington), Miss Hutch (Palmerston North). Mrs. Rewi Kingsland (Invercargill), Miss 0. Sheppard (Tairua), Mrs. Brown (Inglewood).
