ANGLICAN SYNOD
BUSINESS RESUMED SOME MATTERS DEFERRED A long discussion on a bill designed to appoint a Diocesan Loans Board and consideration of notices of motion dealing with the need for renewed missionary activity and with furthering the short periods of religious instruction given to schoolchildren before school opened, occupied the attention of members of the Anglican Synod when it resumed yesterday. In the morning a lay conference was held. Because of the nature of the discussion on missionary endeavour, several matters which were to have been brought before jsynod last night were deferred, including a notice of motion to raise the status of Canon W. Fancourt to that of a dean. This motion is to be taken on Monday. A conference of the clergy attending synod will be held on Monday morning and synod will continue on Monday afternoon and at night. Several bills and a number of notices of motion have to be dealt with on Monday and Tuesday.
