Thompson, in his first mount for five years, won the Hurdle Race_ on Restford at Mooneo Valley to-day'. Colossical was unplaced in this race. Membo broke down in the Hunters' Steeples. Granyin ran a promising third in the_ Trial Handicap. The Caulfield Cup candidate. Fireman, put on a determined run to finish second in the Welter Handicap, one mile. He will appreciate the extra halfmile in the Cup. Pantoon, bj' Musketoon —Panette, scored an impressive win in the Gowrio Handicap and is a much improved colt. Sir Simper gave a poor display in the Springbank Handicap, which was won by Mr. W. R. Kemball's three-year-old filly Amiable, by Lord Quex— Agreeable, with a brilliant finish. Tooley Street and Red Manfred aro candidates in the Clip and Namakia in the Welter Handicap, at Cranbourne to-morrow. Old Rowley arrives to-night to complete his preparation for the Melbourne Cup. On the grass Auto Sweep, who looks none tlio worse for his race in the Great Northern Guineas, hit out freely over a mile in 1.48. He carried well over ( J.O. The two-year-old by Captain Bunsby—Crabeen ran three furlongs in 41s. Lady Kyra and Bonny Glow ran half a mile in 545. Lady Kyra is making progress.
On the plough Ngatirahiri and Script finished on terms at the conclusion of seven furlongs, the last five taking 1.6 3-5. Don Enna and Royal Dispute finished two lengths in front of Booklaw over a mile in 1.51, the last half taking 545. Royal Dispute is improving. Winsome Lu occupied 1.4 1-5 for a good five furlongs. Racecall covered half a mile in 50 IS-ss. R. Barlow left by float for Masterton yesterday with Clessamore, Ringside and Brilliancy.
