A Chinese spokesman states that the lines in the Lotien sector are unchanged, in spite of heavy fighting during the night, and that the Japanese attacks in the Liuhang and Kiangwan sectors were repulsed. It is believed that the Japanese are now withdrawing their lines in the Chapei sector after bitter fighting. ■ The Chinese batteries shelled the enemy lines heavily this morning and the gunners scored a direct hit on the Japanese naval landing headquarters. They also shot down a bomber near Tazang. •

SAILORS LANDED THREE CHINESE ISLANDS JAPANESE NAVAL FORCE (Kfceived October 6, 1.0 a.m.) HONGKONG, Oct. 5 Six Japanese warships landed hundreds of bluejackets pn three small islands in the Chungshan area, near Macao. This is the first, confirmed report of a landing by ; Japanese in South China. The" Japanese are ' making an aeror drome on the island.
