ROAD WORK DANGERS
. MOTORISTS WARNED MORE CONSIDERATION URGED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, "Wednesday The need for the exercise of greater 'feare by motorists when passing road construction works was emphasised at a meeting of the Hamilton advisory committee of the Automobile Association (Auckland). It was stated that in order to check the speed of motorists when passing the new work on the Cambridge-Tirau road at Karapiro, the workmen had made ramps on the road, but these had been objected to by the association and had been removed. The vibration caused by speeding motor-cars was a source of danger, owing to the risk of causing rock to fall. The Public Works Department had intimated that unless motorists exercised more care and consideration when passing the works, more rigid conditions would have to be enforced in order to safeguard the workmen.
