RAID ON A TOWN

MEXICAN OUTLAWS MURDERS AND LOOTING MEXICO CITY. SeDt. 21 Outlaws captured and looted the town of Amealco, in a daring raid to-day. They swept down on the town, cut off communications, imprisoned 2000 inhabitants, murdered the mayor, town clerk and others who resisted, assaulted women, looted buildings and burned down the Town Hall.

The raid was made after the garrison had been withdrawn, the authorities considering that the troops stationed there could bo better employed elsewhere. .

The bandits fled on the approach of a cavalry patrol which was attracted by the uproar and shooting. The town has been strongly regarrisoned. The number of dead is not known.
