MAN WITH CAMERA HELD ALOFT BY BALLOONS SAVED BY RIFLE SHOTS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received September 29, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 28 A telegram from Biddeford, Maine, states that a photographer who was taking pictures from the air, where he was held by a cluster of balloons, found himself unable to descend when his safety line snapped.

Cramp in the hands compelled the man to drop his camera and this lightening of the weight on the balloons caused them to carry him up into the clouds, where rain brought him down to a lower altitude again. Thousands of people watched the photographer but could not help him. Finally, however, a clergyman who was motoring in the locality secured a rifle and fired at the balloons, puncturing several of them and thus enabling the photographer to descend safely. He was exhausted when he reached the ground
