ROWING

DISAPPOINTING RACING WEST END CLUB'S SEASONDisappointment with the season as far as regatta racing was concerned was expressed in the report presented at the annual meeting of the West End Rowing Club held last night at the bouthouse in St. Mary's Bay. Enthusiasm, a requisite of success, was lacking, although there were notable exceptions, the report stated. With three clubs equal ir. points after fivo ovents. West End beat Auckland in the final raco to win the trophy. With the advent of the Gladstone skiffs interest in sculling increased. Trial eights racing occupied an increasing part of tho programme. A distinct improvement was shown in the form of selected crews in club racing. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. A. C. Norden; patron, Mr. A. M. Paterson; captain, Mr. L. K. McDonald: deputy-captain, Mr. E. F. Rapcr: assistant deputy captain. Mr. T. Chester; lion, secretary, Mr. T. fi.
