AUCKLAND BEFEKEES MR. O. F. PAULL TO RETIRE APPRECIATION OF SERVICES Appreciation of tho work of Mr. W. S. Ladkin, who recently controlled the intermediate grade representative match between Auckland and South Auckland, was received from the managers of the teams at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby Referees' Association. Mr. J. B. Finlayson presided. -Mr. C. P. Gibson wav accepted as a member on transfer from the Tauranga Rugby .Referees' Association. An invitation was> received from the Eden Club for members to attend its annual smoke concert. The Auckland Rugby Union wrote and thanked tho association for the efficient manner in whioh points had been awarded in tho competition for the Palmer Memorial Cup throughout the season. Mr. A. E. Austin acknowledged congratulations received on his appointment as referee for tho match between Otatfo and South Africa.
Thanks were conveyed by the Wellington Referees' Association for courtesies extended to Mr. flayden In Auckland while he was arranging for the mutch between tho Auckland and Wellington referees. This was played on Saturday, resulting in a win for Auckland by 8 points to 5. It was reported that the annual smoke concert of the association was attended by 150 referees, representatives being present from Canterbury; North Auckland, South Auckland. Waikato, Kaipara and Thames, as well as 40 members from the Wellington association.
A letter of appreciation for his services during the past 19 seasons is to be forwarded to Mr. C. P. Paull, who has announced his retirement.
