Monday Two new schools of the open-air type were opened in Wairarapa bv the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, in the presence of a representative gathering of public. In the morning Mr. Fraser opened a side school in Masterton East, and iu the afternoon lie opened the new Carterton school. Among those present were the Director of Education, Mr. X. T. Lain bourne, the chairman of the Wellington Education Board. Mr. W. V. Dyer, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. AY. E. Barnard

At the Masterton East ceremony the Minister presented the Royal Humane Society's certificate to Mr. William George Reynolds, who saved a bo\ from drowning in the Ruamahanga River in 1933. *
