WRESTLING BOUT

WIN FOE BLOMFIELD

DON NOLAN DISQUALIFIED ONE FALL TO EACH MAN 1 Cautioned 011 several occasions for slowness in breaking when ordered to do so by the referee, Don Nolan was finally disqualified in the seventh round of a professional heavy-weight wrestling contest against the New Zealander "Lofty" Blomfield, at the Town Hall last evening. Prior to this each man had secured a fall md Nolan appeared to have an advantage 011 points

The seventh round opened in lively fashion, with both contestants punching and jolting wildly. Blomfield was knocked through the ropes and Nolan, refusing to allow his opponent to regain his feet, maintained a barrage of jolts to Blomfield's jaw. The referee attempted to break the men, but in the ensuing melee he was knocked oil his feet. Nolan then lifted Blomfield and dumped him hard, but the referee broke the wrestlers and raised the New Zealander's arm as an indication that Nolan had been disqualified. First Fall to Blomfleld

The first fall went to Blomfield 111 the second round, when he pursued his opponent round the ring, delivering a series of punishing forearm jolts. Nolan was weakened and fell an easy victim to a press. Nolan equalised in the fifth, securing a fall with a piledrive hold after lowering Blomfield with jolts. The contest, which was witnessed by a fairly largo attendance of spectators, was of a rather mediocre type, and it was only occasionally that the spectators were roused to any real enthusiasm.

Both men's weights were announced at 16st. 101b. .Mr. J. McLean was the referee. Nolan showed a desire to arouse Blomfield in the first round, essaying a few punches, but his opponent was slow to respond. Nolan showed cleverness in applying combination arm and leg holds, and he had Blomfield in difficulties on several occasions. However, the latter, after being rolled in a short-arm scissors in the second round, jolted Nolan iiito subjection and took a fall. Nolan Cautioned After being cautioned for his using his knee to Blomlield's abdomen in the third' round, Nolan eased the pressuro 011 a face-bar by biting his opponent's fingers. Solid wrestling predominated in the fourth round, and early in the fifth Nolan dazed Blomfield with jolts and took a fall with his favourite piledrive hold. Blomfield had the better of a vigorous exchange of jolts in the sixth, his opponent recoiling to tho ropes under the force of several powerful blows, but Nolan seemed to have tho measure of the New Zealander in the seventh just prior to his disqualification.
