W ray, manager and captain of tin* Australian ladies' representative team, which arrived in Auckland yesterday by the? -Mariposa. The visiting team, which, in addition to Miss Wray, comprises Mrs. Sloan Morpeth, Miss 10. M. 11 ut ton, Miss 15. Kernot, Miss S. iolhurst ami Miss B. Cheney, will meet the New Zealand ladies' representatives in the Tasman Cup contest at Napier early in October. The spirit of friendly rivalry bred by such contests was all for the good of the game and members of her team were looking forward with great keenness to meeting their New Zealand opopnents, stated Miss Wray. A surprise feature in the selection of the Australian team was that all the five players wero Victorians. A Splendid Record

Although she does not intend to play on the present tour unless it is absolutely necessary, Miss Wray has a very impressivo record. She won the first of her three national championships 30 years ago, and her most recent one in 1929. Her selection as manager and captain was highly popular, in view of her all-round experience and great knowledge of the game. 'The best-known member of the team is Mrs. Sloan Morpeth, who has won two Australian and five Victorian titles. One of the best shot-makers and longest hitters in Australia, her husband is a former Aacldander and winner of the New Zealand open and amateur championships. M iss l int ton is expected to attract considerable interest during the tour. She has come into prominence during the last two years, during which time she won the Victorian title and was runner-up in the metropolitan championship. A sound and determined player, Miss Kernot has an impressive champion..hip record. She holds the titles of the Lifelong and Metropolitan Clubs and was 193(3 champion of champions in Victoria. She won the Australian ladies' championship this month. Miss Tolhurst is also a Victorian titleholder and has competed in several semi-finals for the championship. Her recent trip to America appears to have had a beneficial effect on her golf, as in recent months she has returned some remarkably good scores. She is a sister of Mrs. Morpeth.

Accurate Putter Accurate putting is the forte of Miss Cheney, who was the 1935 girl champion of Victoria and 1936 girl champion of South Australia. She was runner-up to Miss Kernot in this year's Australian championship. A fine stylist, she should greatly profit by tbo experience gained on this trip. The handicaps of the visitors are as follows: —Miss Wray, 7; Mrs. Morpeth, 3; Miss Hutton, 3; Miss Kernot, 3; Miss Tolhurst. 2; Miss Cheney, 5. The Australians were given on opportunity to practice yesterday, when they were the guests of the Titirangi Club. They played one round during the afternoon.
