SALES OF ELECTRICITY
MARKED INCREASE SHOWN WAITEMATA BOARD'S FIGURES A substantial increase in the gross sales of current for tho past month was revealed in tho report presented by the manager of tho "Waitemata ElectricPower Board, Mr. A. Main, at yesterday's meeting. Cross sales for August amounted to £IO,OOO, an increase of £;tt66 over tho figures for tho same month last year, when tho amount was £7434.
For the five months ending August 31, total gross sales amounted to £54,875, as against £45,196 for tho corresponding period last year, an increase of £9079. During the same period, 459 new consumers, 167 ranges, 167 water heaters, 122 milking motors and 112 industrial motors were connected, thus bringing the total number of connected consumers to 12,691. , Tho reports drew much favourable comment from members of tho board. A further indication of tho increased business being carried out by the board was given by tho manager in recommending three extensions involving an estimated capital expedituro of £3750. The extensions will servo 38 now consumers who halve given guarantees amounting to £BOS gross per annum.
