LEAGUE CONFERENCE
DELEGATES WELCOMED RECEPTION IN WELLINGTON [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] ■WELLINGTON, Wednesday Delegates from Auckland, Gisborne, Tauranga, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Masterton, Lower Hutt, Wellington, Christchurch, Timaru and Otago, who are attending the eleventh annual conference of the Dominion Council of the League of Nations Union of New Zealand, wore present to-night at a reception given in their honour by the Wellington branch of the Union. The function was held at the Lyceum Club. Another guest of the evening was the Hon. W. Nash, who was accompanied by Mrs. Nash, the latter wearing a striking frock of black pin-tucked sheer, made with cowl neck and worn under a long coat of grey squirrel. The guests, who included many members of the Wellington branch of the Union, were received by the President, Mrs. John Henderson, who wore a frock of Parma violet silk lace with a coatee to match and a shoulder spray of mauve hyacinths. Mrs. Henderson presented Mrs. Nash with a basket of flowers. The chairman for the evening was Mr. W. B. Matheson, a member of the Dominion Council, who welcomed the guests and called upon Mr. Nash to address the gathering. During the evening Mr. B. Withers, Mr. W. M. Page, and Dr. A. C. Keys read a one-act play appropriate to the occasion entitled "Eleventh Hour." Its purpose was to show the utter futility of war.
