ELECTION PROMISES
Sir, —I fail to see where "W.W.F." has refuted any of my statements. His reference to other Governments studying our legislation cuts no ice. Does not any politician, or for that matter, any traveller, study the politics of the countries he may visit, and also the social problems of the countries visited P If he will look at a cablegram in the Herald of August 2, he will see what the British Government is doing for the sailors, shifting them from the forecastle to amidships, or aft, and the forecastle is described as a death trap in case of collision. Also, in certain ships, hospital, mess-rooms, ventilation, lighting and locker accommodation are provided. The British Government is not a Labour Government. The British Government is also spending £90,000,000 on slum clearance. Fed Up.
