Mutable beat Desert Chief in the Glen Orla Handicap. Silver Bond was unplaced in the Coogee Handicap; Palatinate; Gay Sheila and Perfect Idea ran unplaced in the Sunset Welter. SIX DISQUALIFICATIONS HORSES AND CONNECTIONS SYDNEY, July Si The Australian Jockey Club stewards to-day disqualified for a year the owner-trainer, T. MeGrath., tho gelding New Moon, and tho apprentice L. Delaney; also the owner-trainer P. J. Ticrncy, the jockey A. Thomas, and the gelding Sandon, for a similar period. Now Moon started at Victoria Park on Wednesday, and Sandon ran at the Kenibla Gra>i«c meeting yesterday. SEASON AT RANDWICK J. KING LEADING TRAINER (Received August 1, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 1 In the racing season concluded yesterday J. King headed tho list of trainers with 39 winners. J. T. Jumieson, with 21i wins, was fourth, and G. Price, with 15£ wins, was fourteenth. W. Cook was the leading jockey with 79 wins and five dead-heats. M. McCarten was second, with. 72 wins and five ' dead-heats, and E. McMenamin was third, he having ridden 6-1 winners and two dead-heats. \ LICENCES REFUSED THREE SYDNEY HORSEMEN (Received August 1, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 1 A stir has been caused in racing circles by the omission of the names of three jockeys from the list of those granted licences for the new season. The most prominent is Keith Cook, and tho others are J. M. Coutts and 1). H. Webb. Cook and Coutts say they have no idea why they, have been left out.
The Sunday Sun says Webb declares the stewards told him ho was not getting sufficient riding.

WOTAN'S MELBOURNE CUP
(Received Auprust l, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 1 Although they won only one race.in Melbourne for the season ended yesterday, Messrs. Smith Brothers, of New Zealand, topped the list of winning owners, as tho race was the Melbourne Cup, won by Wotan. HUNT CLUB'S POLICY INSURANCE AGAINST RAIN It is reported that the Christchurch Hunt Club took out an insurance policy against rain on Saturday, the policy to operate if 10 points of rain fell between 6 and 10 a.m. Last year, a snowstorm caused the meeting to be abandoned. A similar insurance had been effected, but the worst periods occurred just before 6 and just after 10 o'clock, so the insurance was missed by a small fraction.
