The most prominent is Keith Cook, and tho others are J. M. Coutts and 1). H. Webb. Cook and Coutts say they have no idea why they, have been left out.

The Sunday Sun says Webb declares the stewards told him ho was not getting sufficient riding.

(Received Auprust l, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 1 Although they won only one race.in Melbourne for the season ended yesterday, Messrs. Smith Brothers, of New Zealand, topped the list of winning owners, as tho race was the Melbourne Cup, won by Wotan. HUNT CLUB'S POLICY INSURANCE AGAINST RAIN It is reported that the Christchurch Hunt Club took out an insurance policy against rain on Saturday, the policy to operate if 10 points of rain fell between 6 and 10 a.m. Last year, a snowstorm caused the meeting to be abandoned. A similar insurance had been effected, but the worst periods occurred just before 6 and just after 10 o'clock, so the insurance was missed by a small fraction.
