Saturday There was a largo attendance at the sale of pedigree pigs conducted by the 1 Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering 1 Company, Limited, at Te I! apa on be- ( half of Burwen, Limited. The best 1 price received was 41 i guineas paid by Mr. A. Swanee, of Whatawhata, for the Tamworth sow Burwen Nancy 11., the holder of the world's littor record, her average offspring weighing 521b. at eight weeks. A Sydney I'oyal Show winner the Tamworth boar Wollinghar Banker, was sold to Mr. J. K. McArtliur, of Tuakau. for '.20 guineas. The champion Berkshire sow Wigtown Juanili 11. was bought by Mr. G. Jamicson, of Horotiu, for 11.y 2 Kiiineas, while the Royal Show reserve champion Dominion fashions JRco changed hands at 12 guineas, Mr. Clark, of Hangitaiki, being the buyer. Berkshire sows averaged GVa guineas and the boars 9 guineas. Prices for Tamworth maiden sows ranged from 0 1 / 3 guineas to .10 guineas, and Tamworth sows with litters from 0 guineas to 15 guineas. PAPAKURA DAIRY CATTLE 0 The Is'ew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports an average yarding at Papakura, including the advertised lines of dairy cattle. Practically everything changed hands under the hammer, competition being keen for all quality dairy cattle. Three pedigree Jersey heifers Bold on account of Mr. A. L. Cooper, of Oaklands Road, Papakura, made from S'/gns to Jlgns; good quality Jersey and Jerseycross cows, springing and close to profit, £8 10s to £10; medium sorts, £6 5s to £7 15s; others, £•! 10s to £6; backward and poor quality, £3 to £4 ss; choice dairy heifers, springing and in milk, £S to £0 12s Od; fair quality, /£6 to £7 15s; inferior and backward, £'' lto £5 15s. Competition was fairly keen throughout, and-late market rates were maintained. Medium fat Shorthorn cows made £6 2s to £6 'l6s;. light fat Jersey cows and heifers, £5 to £6 2s; heavy boners, £3 10s to £'l; others, 30s to £3 2s; young Holstein bulls, £3 10s. HIKUTAIA QUOTATIONS The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports holding its Hikutaia stock sale when a medium entry of all classes of cattle came forward. Dairies: There was a medium yarding which failed to elicit competition. CLEARANCE AT OPOTIKI [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Saturday The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports holding a successful sale at Opotiki, on account of .Messrs. McKenzie and Crowley, of Tolaga •Bay. Ninety of the 103 dairy cattle offered were Friesians in calf to Jersey bulls. The herd had not been tested for two years, but any cows showing quality met with good competition and there was a total clearance under the hammer. Prices realised were:— Calved cows, to £lO 10s; good da.ry sorts, in good condition and close to profit, £0 to £11; backward calvers, £0 to £S; aged cows, £•1 10s to £5; two-year-old Friesja.n heifers, backward and in ordinary condition, to £0 13s; small sorts, £3 15s to £5; Jersey cows, good sorts, to £lO 10s-, Jersey heifers. 18-months-old, in calf, to £7 2s Gd; very small and late calvers, to £3 ss.

Coleman, of Tangowahine. The attendance was small, but competition was keen for hi* Reci/ IM"cd<-cr"oss cows, which made from £7 JOs to ,ClO 15s, averaging a little over £O. Rod Po'lled-cross heifers made £7 10s to £9, averaging £S 2s (id. Several other lines of Jersey-cross cows were offered at the sale, but competition was not over brisk for these, although a three-year-old grade Jersey heSfcr was passed at £ll. Best grade Jersey cows made £7 7s to £0; medium, £5 10s to £7 ss; old and inferior cows, £1 15s to £5 7s fid.
