AIR MAIL MISSED

DELAY TO CARGO VESSEL LETTERS FOR ENGLAND Some inconvenience was caused at Auckland yesterday through the failure of a cargo vessel to sail for Australia with air mail to connect with the Aus-tralia-Singapore-England service. As a result there will be no further connection with the service until the departure for Sydney next Friday of the Monterey. Mail notices yesterday advised that the cargo motor-ship Hauraki would sail with air mail from Port Chalmers to Melbourne, an indirect route which would have resulted in the mail arriving at London on August 19. However, the departure of the Hauraki was postponed until Monday and air mail letters received for forwarding south by train last night will now not bo despatched for another week.
