THE LEAGUE GAME
SENIOR CHAMPION SHIP TO-MORROW'S ATTRACTIONS RICHMOND TO MEET MANUKAU The meeting of Richmond and Manukau in tho principal game at Carlaw Park to-morrow will have an important bearing on the Auckland Rugby League's senior championship. Richmond is at present leading Manukau by three points, and two series of matches remain to be played. Manukau is the most-improved team in the competition and is .the most likely combination to take tho honours from Richmond. When the teams met in the first round Richmond won by a margin of two points after a great struggle. Since then Manukau has been strengthened and followers of the code can expect a closely-contested match. Manukau will be without the services of J. Hemi, who was injured on Wednesday. A victory for Richmond will place the cham- : pionship beyond doubt. A well-contested curtain-raiser is expected in the meeting of Ponsonby and Mount Albert. Ponsonby is a greatly improved team and its hacks should prove superior to thoso of .Mount Albert, which, however, lias a solid set of forwards. City will play Marist on the No. 2 ground and a fast game is. ■expected. City has shown good form lately, but will need to reveal its best in order to beat Marist, which is a well-balanced combination. In tho curtain-raiser, North Shoro should defeat Newton, although the latter is improving each game. Lower grado competitions will be continued.
