THE NATIONAL PARTY
ACTIVITY IN TAURANGA Organising activity on behalf of the New Zealand National Party has been carried on in different parts of the Tauranga electorate during the past week. At these meetings it was- pointed out that to.ensure proper representation until the new boundaries were properly delineated it was desirable to carry on with the organisation work as boundaries now stood. Tt was stated that, as most electorates were similarlv placed, to mark time would mean that the whole organisation might lose valuable time and delay the necessary selection of candidates. At To Aroha, which reported a large membership, Mr. W.• A. Clark, chairman, and Mr. W. Leitch, secretary, were elected for a further term of office. The recently-formed branch at Manawaru appointed Mr. A. Neeve as chairman and Mr. T. C. Cobbold as secretary. The Tauranga branch had an attendance of 100 members, and set up a strong committee, with Mr. E. Tamblyn as chairman, and the Rev. 1). Rankin as secretary. The Te Puke branch, which was presided over by Mr. 13. Keys, set up an enrolment committee, of which Mr. G..Muir was appointed convener. At Whalcatane, a very enthusiastic meeting of over 60 appointed Mr. J. C. McCulloch as chairman and Mr. W. Steele as secretary. At a central meeting in .Tauranga, Mr. E. Tamblyn was appointed chairman of the management committee, and the Rev. D. Rankin secretary.
