GOLFER'S REMARKS

AMERICAN DISCIPLINED SEQUEL TO RYDER CUP The prompt action taken by the United States' Professional Golfers' Association to discipline R. Culdahl for his statement concerning the sportsmanship of British crowds will be endorsed by all golfers. .International matches for the Ryder Cup have been played every second year since 1927, and, until this year, there has been no question of unsportsmanlike conduct in either country. These contests have always attracted world-wide interest, and it would be a pity if a remark by a member of one team should, cause any unpleasant feelings between the two countries. Fortunately the authorities usually exercise the greatest care in selecting players, not only for their golfing ability, but for their bearing on and off the course. Probably even greater care will be taken in future and there is little likelihood of a recurrence of the trouble.

One could hardly imagine players of the type of the American profcsisonals who toured Australia a few years ago making any statements for publication that would he likely to offend the golfers of the country they had visited.
