RADIANT REVUE COMPANY
ENJOYABLE VAUDEVILLE DISPLAY AT PRINCE EDWARD A varied programme of vaudeville numbers consisting of bright sketches, ballets, comedy and specialty items was presented at the Prince Edward Theatre last night by the Radiant Revue Company and will be continued with a complete change each week. Tim company was capably led by Opliir Itoes, well-known singer of popular songs. From the opening sketch, "Seaside Days," in which the whole company took.part, the revue wont with a swing and wr.s enthusiastically received by a largo audience. Experienced stage management ensured that there were no delays.
A skilful trapeze act was given by the Flying Lenton Sisters, who had been specially engaged for the revue after a successful tour of Australia. From a trapeze suspended 20ft. above the stage they performed a daring series of evolutions.
The ballet of eight girls was given well-deserved applauso in its several numbers, including the "Blue Danube," in which they danced to the strains of Strauss' waltz. In contrast was a military ballot, the members wearing costumes of smart red and giving a display in which precision was the outstanding quality. The dainty soprano Eileen Smithson was heard in several songs, including the "Blue Danube," in which she was assisted by the ballet. In the song "-Waiting" her clear and well-trained voice was heard to advantage. Opliir Rees sang the solo "Sligo" and appeared in many other numbers, including "Pretty Girls," in which the ballet assisted.
riie humour was in the experienced hands of Jack Riley, who is. billed as Now Zealand's funniest comedian, and Sylvia Pointer, singer, dancer and comedienne, also was seen in several enjoy:"hie items, of which the solo "The Cipsv Warned Me" was especially well received. Imitations of various animals, from the Australian kookaburra to the hyena and the lion, wore given bv Harry*Ellison, and Jack dp Hose was seen in tlx* dance "Stops and Styles." June, .Joyce and Dibbie gave the comedy trio "P.O. -I!)," and other performers were Keith Raynos and the Four .lays.
Tlio programme commenced at 7..'50 with tlio screening of the (1-inen thriller "Show Them No Mercy," stavrincr Bruce Cabot and Rochelle Hudson.
