Pressure has risen considerably over the Dominion, but a : series of secondary depressions, of g which a rather deep ono is now g approaching, continues to advance across the South' Tasman Sea. The I forecast is for south-westerly or south- !' crly winds predominating, but veering | temporarily to west or north-west about If and south of Cook Strait, force strong | at times in most places and reaching gale force in exposed positions. Seas 1 very rough at times about Foveaux S Strait; elsewhere mainly rather rough to rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moder- I ate to strong west to south-west winds fl anrl rather rough to rough seas. The | weather for the most part is likely to be fair to fine, but unsettled conditions and rain are probable occasionally in | most districts, especially those with a westerly aspect; further snow on the ranges and hail on the southern coast- I line. Last night wa* I overcast but fine, with the wind light | from the south-west. The barometer I continued to rise. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 30,00 in, f Midnight, Monday ... .. 29.82 in, | Wellington. —There were frequent I heavy showers in the early morning, I some accompanied by a little sleet-. f. Snow fell on low levels on the Rimu- f taka ranges. Conditions gradually im- | proved, and although cold, the after- | noon was again brilliantly fine and clear. r Christchurch. —The day was fine and j sunny, but a cold south-west wind was [ blowing. The barometer was unsteady, | and at 5 p.m. was falling, the reading [ then being 29.81 inches. Dunedin. —There was a light frost in [ parts of Dunedin this morning.
