DOMINION MANUFACTURERS [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNE DIN, Tuesday Tho view that New Zealand must look to the manufacturing industries for future development was expressed by Mr. H. L. Longbdttom, representing the Dunedin Manufacturers' Association, at the annual meeting of tho Otago Expansion League. He emphasised the need for Government intervention to protect local manufacturers from imports pouring into the country. Mr. J. W. Munro assured manufacturers that the Government was fujly alive to . the menace from Australia, which was enabled to take advantage of the paritv in exchange. The Government, he' said, was giving serious consideration to tliat question.
