PRESIDENT'S DAY

MANGERE LADIES' GUILD The annual president's afternoon of the Mangere East Presbyterian Ladies' Guild was held in the Church Hall, Allen Street, on Thursday. The president, Mrs. I{. A. Ellison, received the guests, assisted by Mrs. J. 11. Hardie, secretary of the guild. The hall was well filled with members and friends from Auckland, Epsom, Papatoetoe and other guilds in the Mangere district. A programme of musical items by Mrs. Malthus'and Miss James, humorous recitations, by Miss James and an address 011 Homo Mission life in the backblocks by Mr. West was enjoyed. Several novelty competitions were contested, the prize winners being Mesdnmos Prangley, Strekter, Burns, Fountain, Brown and Moir. Afternoon tea was served by the guild committee:—Mescalines Fisher, Thompson, IJrwin, Pirio, Nicoll, V. C. Hardie, Fountain and McKimmon.
