STREET COLLECTION

CONDITIONAL PERMISSION Permission to hold a street collection was granted by tho Otahuhu Borough Council last night on condition that the responsible authority, tho St. John Ambulance Association, devotes 20 nor cent of tho gross takings to the local ambulance unit. When tho letter of application was read Mr. F. W. Grey said that last year the council had granted permission oil those conditions, but ho understood tho association had failed to carry out the terms agreed upon. The Mayor, Mr. C. 11. l'etrie, said tho local unit received £ll. Mr. Grey and Mr. W. Morton said the amount had only been paid after representations were made. Mr. Grey urged that any permit should bo clearly conditional. This course was adopted.
