Hodgens, M.P. for Pahnerston North, during a tour of the district. As the result of representations made to him as associate of the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R* Semple, Mr. Hodgens promised to place the facts before the Minister in ■Wellington. Mr. Hodgens said the previous Government had,surveyed the area and the settlors were of the opinion that if a ■,J"g main drain were put down so that they could run secondary drains into it the swamp could be turned into a aefmito asset to the Dominion as a Whole, They were prepared to contpbute to the cost corresponding with ■;sneir interests in the scheme.
